Be Honest #1: I was wrong

Deirdre Wilson – Thursday, November 12, 2015

I was wrong in a big way this week. And I am glad that I found out. We had a huge week with lots of deadlines and staff away on annual leave. Our biggest risk during weeks like these is the temptation to take shortcuts in order to meet tight deadlines. But, there is a difference between shortcuts and doing something a better way. One of our values is Be Honest - so I am 'fessing up to making the wrong call this week because I learnt from it.     Read More . . .

Rinse and repeat #2: storage with intent

Deirdre Wilson – Wednesday, August 26, 2015

Rinse and Repeat is one of our company values is. It reminds us to avoid chasing our tails by putting processes in place or documenting anything that will save time later on. And this value: rinse and repeat, is the one we report on having demonstrated more than any other.    Read More . . .

Take the work out of work #1

Deirdre Wilson – Wednesday, June 17, 2015

This is one in a series of posts where we take a look at one of our company values and how it manifests in what we do. The value for this post is: take the work out of work. Deirdre Wilson – Friday, April 24, 2015

Heard in our office this week: 'thank god for output sheets'. Output sheets are the checklist we use when outputting a file to a printer or publisher. Deirdre Wilson – Thursday, April 23, 2015

Some people have truly delightful jobs and we are lucky enough to get a glimpse into their worlds every now and then. Our friend Andrew Foster is an artist who produces portraits of the furry, scaly and feathered friends who inhabit our lives. We made the Pet Portraits website last year and have just enhanced it with blog and newsletter.   Read More . . .

Why are you running the business you have?

Deirdre Wilson – Thursday, March 05, 2015

Why aren't you recycling tyres? Or making brooms? Or unblocking sewerage? Maybe you don't think those jobs match your skill set. But if you know how to run a business, then the nature of the endeavour being undertaken shouldn't make much difference, should it?   Read More . . .

What happens when you stop posting?

Deirdre Wilson – Wednesday, March 04, 2015

People think that you are dead. Or that your business is dead. Blogs and social posts are a narrow window to your business but your audience may not be aware how narrow. They think that what they see is all there is.   Read More . . .
